I can empathize completely with a father who hasn't always done the best things - alcohol and otherwise.

You're right to do it your way - with your mom walking you down the aisle. I think that's a great idea.Kristahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10010855220044881380noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-102589044345501113.post-25694977950496193802009-07-21T21:38:31.045-06:002009-07-21T21:38:31.045-06:00Hi Em! The blog world has really helped me keep perspective on things we think we are dealing with alone! I am still processing the conversation with my dad, but I will share it as soon as I can effectively put words to it!Tiffany @ bride-on-purposehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07957363816378389125noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-102589044345501113.post-8730735018776100872009-07-21T20:19:38.691-06:002009-07-21T20:19:38.691-06:00Found this from Miss Swan's post today on WB. ...Found this from Miss Swan's post today on WB. My dad took the same path and is now in a nursing home with no short-term memory so in a way, luckily, because he's so far gone and I don't talk to him anymore, I can also be worry free of the "dad" issue at my wedding. I've asked my mom to walk my down the aisle as well.

I think you should do what YOU want to do. Who cares what anyone else thinks. Don't let other people tell you how to love/hate your father. When my dad's sister tried to interfere with my decision not to see or talk to my father again it was beyond infuriating but I knew I was making the right decision for myself and didn't care what anyone else thought of it.

I am a million times happier and guilt free now!

Just do what you need to do to be happy.

Good luck!

PS. LOVE that you're Canadian Whooohoo!Stephaniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08408762075761967321noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-102589044345501113.post-13642620151066200272009-07-13T20:22:31.926-06:002009-07-13T20:22:31.926-06:00Wow, family drama is indeed rough.
